Our founder Crystal has been connecting and working with the indigenous Maya of Nuevo Durango - to share their wisdom with our community members.

Crystal Dorado

Crystal Dorado has been holding space for deepened healing for over a decade. Through her work as a licensed massage therapist, cranio-sacral therapist, akashic records practitioner, reiki master teacher, and spiritual healer, she has worked with hundreds of clients to heal through past trauma and reconnect to the pure joy of living.

As an indigenous woman of color, Crystal is dedicated to illuminating the wisdom of ancestral medicine.

Yolanda Hernandez

Since starting her career in massage therapy in 2014, Yolanda has found herself growing not only professionally but spiritually as well. Yolanda is immensely driven and committed to bettering her craft and expanding her practice to encompass diverse modalities.

The procession into the sacred cemetery sites is a once in a lifetime privilege to witness and experience.

 

The Immersion Experience

Our itinerary is thoughtfully curated to provide a diverse healing experience, that illuminates the richness of the Maya land and culture.

Each day includes three delicious, home made meals featuring Maya gastronomy with fresh local fruits like papaya and mango, locally cultivated honey from the jungle, farm fresh organic eggs, handmade tortillas, and more.

Day 1 - Arrive to the sacred land of the Maya

  • Arrive to Mayan Kajtaj - explore the beautiful community of Nuevo Durango

  • Welcome Ceremony with Enrique Wilcab of Mayan Kajtaj - gather to cleanse our collective energy, and set intentions for the journey ahead.

  • Dinner & Fogata Nocturna - enjoy a delicious meal prepared with fresh, locally grown foods and commune with kindred spirits in a sacred circle around the fire.

Day 2 - Experience Ancestral Healing with Hanal Pixan

  • Sunrise Meditation & Reiki Healing - welcome the day and clear your mind with a therapeutic sound bath with Yolanda Hernandez, infused with the calming energy of Reiki.

  • Traditional Gastronomical Experience with Mayan Kajtaj - an exclusive look into the indigenous ceremonial foods of Day of the Dead. Learn to prepare traditional dishes like Cochinita Pibil to enjoy later on for the Mayan Feast.

  • Hanal Pixan at Tres Reyes - Elder Don Cristiano will guide us through the traditional ceremony for Day of the Dead. Starting with a ceremonial cleansing and blessing, followed by a procession into the jungle, with permission to enter the ancestral cemetery sites. We’ll bring offerings of fruit, incense, and flowers to participate in this precious, sacred process.

  • Mayan Feast and Fogata Nocturna - enjoy the traditional foods prepared throughout the day and take time to gather, reflect, and connect on our experience together.

Punta Laguna Monkey Sanctuary

Learn about the importance of biodiversity and see local species like spider and howler monkeys in their natural habitat.

 

The Medicine of the Melipona

Melipona Bees are native the Yucatan Peninsula - a rare, stingless bee cultivated by the Maya over 3,000 years ago. The Melipona live in small colonies, with unique hives where they produce about one to two liters of honey per hive a year. Melipona Honey is renown for its floral taste and potent medicinal properties.

Day 3 - Explore the Biodiversity of Nuevo Durango

  • Sunrise Meditation & Reiki Healing - welcome the day and clear your mind with a therapeutic sound bath with Yolanda Hernandez, infused with the calming energy of Reiki.

  • Uma Nojoch Keej Animal Sanctuary with Don Manuel Trinidad and his family - learn about the local ecologies and animal species of Nuevo Durango. Don Manuel will teach us about the preservation of local species like white deer and Melipona Bees, as well as the importance of protecting biodiversity for Mother Earth. Enjoy a fresh meal featuring locally grown produce, traditional rice, handmade tortillas, seasonal fruit, and more.

  • Cenote Chimuch - connect to the cleansing energy of Great Grandmother Water in one of the most beautiful Cenotes in the area. Cenotes are underwater caves, considered by the Maya to be portals to the underworld, with profound healing properties. We’ll take a swim in the crystal clear, fresh water.

  • Temazcal Ceremony with Octavio - experience the traditional medicine of a Mayan sweat lodge ceremony. The Temazcal is a dome like structure that symbolizes the Womb space. Water is poured over rocks during the ceremony, creating steam that warms and cleanses the body. We’ll journey through the four elements together to honor our ancestors, our spirits, and reemerge into the world in a new way. 

Day 4 - Immerse into the history and culture of the Maya

  • Coba Ruins - explore the largest ruins site in the Yucatan. The Coba Ruins is a sacred space where we’ll explore the history and culture of the Mayan empire. Bike through the beautiful jungle, explore the temples, and dive into the profound history of the land first hand.

  • Punta Laguna Monkey Sanctuary - visit the local cooperative Najil Tucha that facilitates wildlife watching activities and see local species like spider and howler monkeys in their natural habitat. We’ll enjoy activities to connect with our bodies in nature like hiking, canoeing, and ziplining. 

  • Cenote Esmeralda - after our exploration of the monkey sanctuary, we’ll cool off and relax in the magical blue waters of Cenote Esmeralda.

  • Closing Ceremony & Pachanga - enjoy a delicious meal prepared with fresh, locally grown foods. Commune with our circle of souls in celebration of the end of our journey together. We’ll share our reflections and enjoy the evening together.
