A Journey into Ancestral Mythology and Cosmic Origins
Step into the "Council Book" of the Maya. For our Early Summer Read, Divine Reads invites you to explore the Popol Vuh, the sacred narrative of the K’iche’ people. In this beautifully adapted version by Victor Montejo, we delve into the foundational stories of creation, the adventures of the Hero Twins, and the profound spiritual lineage of the Maya.
Divine Reads is more than a book club; it is a sacred container for collective reflection, decolonized learning, and the reclamation of indigenous wisdom. Whether you are well-versed in Mesoamerican history or opening these pages for the first time, our circle provides a space to witness how these ancient myths continue to breathe life into our modern world.
How We Gather To honor our diverse community, we are offering two ways to sit in circle:
The Virtual Connection: An intimate Zoom gathering to share initial impressions, themes, and reflections from the comfort of your own space.
The In-Person Sanctuary: A soulful, grounded gathering at our Pilsen studio to dive deeper into the text through guided dialogue and shared community presence.
Gathering Details:
The Text: Popol Vuh: A Sacred Book of the Maya by Victor Montejo
